News from the Mission Home

Dear Brother & Sister Hullinger,

Just imagine what it was like for Sister Anderson and I to receive your son as he arrived at the airport Monday morning! We are grateful to have him as a full-time missionary in the New Mexico Albuquerque Mission. He now has this mission as a new home where he will abide in the Lord. he will be blessed with a life-style that has been set forth by the Prophet. He will love the people he has been called to serve.

Leaving the airport, we traveled to the Albuquerque New Mexico Temple, then traveled to the mission home for lunch. Instructions on mission policies were then given. I had a personal interview with your missionary to get acquainted and to feel his spirit. After dinner we had a heart-warming testimony meeting. Your missionary added greatly to the powerful spirit we felt. The next morning we met with new missionaries and their trainers. I have selected the most obedient, hardest working and most skilled missionaries as trainers. We gave instruction on ways to personally have the Spirit and companionship unity. Most of all, we stressed the law of obedience and how blessings come by obedience to God's commands. We then introduced each new missionary to their companion and informed them of their assigned area. This is a wonderful time of bonding new missionaries to their first companion. The Lord's love is in the room. Your missionary left with a smile and with great anticipation.

Life in the mission is different from the Missionary Training Center. For some, there may be home sickness. Those feelings leave once the new missionary becomes immersed in daily missionary work. There is an ever growing vibrant spirit of missionary work among the members here. They love the missionaries.

You will be blessed in sacred ways while your missionary serves. Do all you can to encourage obedience. As a reminder, it is against Church policy for full-time missionaries to have visits from family members, relatives and friends. Phone calls are allowed only on Mother's Day and Christmas (preferably no longer than 30 to 45 minutes). The missionary is to maintain singleness of mind on the work of the Lord (Matthew 10:38-39). We pray you will understand. You and your missionary will be blessed now and forever by keeping him focused on their missionary purpose - to invite others to come to Christ.

We are enclosing a picture of your missionary with Sister Anderson and me, along with information regarding his new assignment. We thank you for the preparation you have given your missionary that brought him to this sacred calling. Next to our own family, our most important responsibility is to love, watch over and strengthen your missionary in their call from the Prophet. He will grow in spirituality and love. May the Lord bless you with peace that your missionary is well cared for as a true servant of the Lord.

With our love,
Richard J. Anderson, President
Cathy L. Anderson, Companion
